Our first artists in residence are…

August 19, 2016

In collaboration with Off the Kerb Gallery, we are delighted to announce the first two artists in residence at Q Bank Gallery. In September, Suki and Be Free will begin a month-long residency, culminating in an exhibition during The Unconformity Festival in Queenstown, Tasmania.

Suki

As you may know, Suki works primarily with urban art installations and printmaking, also exploring materials, including fabric, fibre, ink and found objects.

Be Free

Be Free’s work is represented by a little fun-filled character who runs around watering plants, scribbling on walls and creating chaos with paint. While in residency at Q Bank Gallery, Suki and Be Free are creating together a wild little world of beauty and chaos.

"One small step," the title of the show, refers to the famous words uttered in 1969 by Neil Armstrong when he was the first human to make contact with the Moon's surface. Like Armstrong, Christopher and Conrad journeyed far and created works on what was once a very lunar-like surface due to mining (now coming back to life).
