Between Mountains – Dan O’Toole, Neil Tomkins & Alec de Wilt

20 November 2018

Like the rest of us, artists are often drawn to mountains. Two of the great examples are Paul Cezanne’s love affair with Mont Sainte-Victoire in Provence, which featured in over sixty paintings, and Hokusai’s 46 depictions of Mt Fuji. This Friday 23rd Nov, Alec de Wilt, Dan O’Toole and Neil Tomkins will be showing the works they created in Queenstown at Maggie’s Art Space 178 Johnston St, Collingwood. The show is entitled “Between Mountains”. And with each artist-in-residence we can see an influence of Mt Owen and Mt Lyell on their art. It’s been a great year, thanks to your support. Refreshments provided by the good people at Bodriggy Brewing Company. For enquiries, email info@qbankgallery.com.au.

"One small step," the title of the show, refers to the famous words uttered in 1969 by Neil Armstrong when he was the first human to make contact with the Moon's surface. Like Armstrong, Christopher and Conrad journeyed far and created works on what was once a very lunar-like surface due to mining (now coming back to life).
